Valentine's Day Yoga-Love for our Planet Earth
We’re just a week away from Valentine’s Day. And you know what? Even though it's all very commercial, underneath it all, It’s kind of sweet to have a day when we’re all thinking about love. Don’t you think?
This year, we’ve decided to dedicate our Valentine’s Day love to our planet. Our Earth is alive! This planet that sustains us is filled with the wonder and miracles of love all around us, all the time.
The kids in my life, 3-yr-old, 9-yr-old, and 12-yr-old, joined me today to begin a week-long adventure of love-connecting to Earth. We drew this fun collage together and then we enjoyed the Spring-like weather we had this morning to practice some yoga poses that help us connect to our planet.
We’ve shared some snippets of our yoga adventure here with you, and hope you’ll join us in kindling this magical love-connection that exists between each one of us and our beautiful planet this Valentine's Day... and everyday!
While we did this pose, we envisioned love-energy coming up from the Earth and into us as we breathed in, and then as we exhaled we imagined sharing our love-energy back into the Earth. As you can see, this was a very meditative yoga adventure.

We channeled our inner trees and stood tall and strong, rooting ourselves into the earth. When we lost our balance we imagined the wind blowing and making us sway.

This pose helped us connect to the sky, the wind, and the atmosphere. We imagined we were eagles soaring up into the sky, and we appreciated the beauty of the air and wind of our planet.

My favourite YouTube yoga teacher, Adriene Mishler, has helped me to cultivate a love-connection to Earth through this pose because she often guides her students to imagine kissing our foreheads to the Earth. I imagine bowing my forehead in reverence and in gratitude for all of the beauty, wonder, and miracles of our planet.

We imagined feeling supported by the Earth, and envisioned the Earth lifting us up, holding us. Thanks for this visualization, too, Adriene! As we felt loved and held by our planet, we shared our love-energy back.
